Hits And Misses
I've actually managed to finish the wiring project and I've patched all the holes I made fishing cable through the walls, so the TV room is nearly complete. The Woo finally found the right rug for that room and I carried it home from the carpet store down the street this morning. (And she says I wasn't doing enough reno work with my Two Hours Of Free Time. Huh!)

Everyday on our walk home from school, Boyo tells me all about his day. Today he painted something for me and drew something for Mama. He tells of kids and games and stories read, and always finishes his recount by saying to me: "And I didn't get sent to the principal's office today."
Also, Boyo calls his baby toe his "pinky toe" and he can't be corrected. It's like pinky finger, I guess. Weird.

I brought The Bug home at lunch time todayshe usually eats at school with her friends. Actually, she sits with her friends and doesn't eat much. She says it's because there isn't enough time. Sure. At home she stuffed everything into her face in under ten minutes. Likely because she knows she can't get away without eating and that the sooner she gets it over with, the sooner she can get back to her friends. I think we'll be having more home lunch days.
While sitting down to some art, The Bug asked me to pass her the skin coloured pencil, without hesitation I grabbed the pink and handed it over. Whoops! I thought immediately. Then I corrected by saying, "You did mean your skin colour right?" I've since bought her a pack of Flesh Tone pencils with various reds and browns and pinks and such.

Back to me: I found a most excellent recipe for Xmas-type cookies. I'm in a cookie exchange and I have to improve upon last year's showing when I made Welsh cakes. They were great and were well received by those in my group, but only two people actually liked them (come now, you can tell these things). They are a type of shortbread and should do much better than my entry from last year.

Tonight, me and some local blog-types you might know are heading to the local theatre to see the most awesome ALIEN. I was 10 when it was released and have never seen it on the big screen. Afterwards, we're hitting the pub for pints. What a way to cap-off the day, I must say.

Don't disappoint on that cookie exchange! I think whoever came up with the idea deserves a slow and painful - cookie. A really ugly, hard and nasty cookie. Why is it that I bring nice trays of frosted delights and I get gottauseamagnifyingglass to see them hard peanut butter balls in return? Hey? What's up with that?
Have fun at the shoooooo! (Sorry, Lacelot Link moment...)
cookie exchange? that is such a cool idea! don't laugh... i live on the southern tip of africa... what did you expect?!
have a great weekend!!
Pinky toe need not be corrected. Perfectly acceptable.
Most kids don't have enough time to eat. I think they talk too much.
Had to google Welsh Cakes, but they look/sound good to me. I really can't think of how to describe cookie swaps. Disappointing doesn't seem strong enough.
All in all, sounds like a hit. enjoy.
I love our new book club!
I AM the best person to see horror with huh? I squeal like a little pig!
You have been busy, mostly arguing with me (okay okay, friendly debating), but stil you manage to get tons of stuff done...
You were ten when Alien came out? Now I feel old.
Has your son been hanging out in America lately? Everyone I know here calls the little tow the pinky toe!
If you ever get divorced, I've got dibs on you...
